catching up on some tags and awards – part 1

Hello lovely people! I have just given myself a heart attack by realizing it’s May 28th. Where has the year gone? How is it almost June? Anyway, ignore me freaking out. Today I’m going to be catching up on some tags and awards that I’ve been meaning to get to for a long time. Hope you enjoy!

Books As First Dates Tag

This tag was created by Alice @ Love For Words, I was tagged by the lovely Jan from The Doodlecrafter. They both have amazing blogs and I definitely recommend you check them out! (also please ignore my lack of going on dates so I will just pretend I now what I’m doing)

The rules

  • Link back to the original tag!
  • Thank and link back to the blogger who tagged you!
  • Tag 5+ bloggers
  • Have fun!

First and last: a book/series you’ve read and enjoyed but can’t bring yourself to read again

His Dark Materials series.

See, I did enjoy this series and thought it was quite well done. But I also found it somewhat hard to get through so I don’t think I’ll be re-reading it.

With a friend of mine: a book/series someone recommended to you that turned out to be different from what you expected

The Sun Is Also A Star.

I was actually gifted this book by a dear friend of mine whose a big romance lover. As I wasn’t at the time, I really wasn’t sure what to think, but I think this book was a huge Segway into the world of YA romance.

Double date: a book who’s sequel you immediately had to read

I can’t think of a good answer to this, because I tend to finish a book, get distracted by ten others, and then read the sequel.

Let’s go to the movies: A book series that should be adapted to the screen

SLAY

I’m going to go with SLAY for this prompt. I think it would be so cool to see how they would create the visuals for Kiera’s game. Speaking of adaptations, I just finished Shadow And Bone and need a season two.

Dreamy stargazing: a book that made you go ‘ahhh’ and ‘ohhh’

In Real Life

The first book that I thought of for this prompt was In Real Life because the art is so gorgeous! Although I wasn’t huge on the plot, just read this to admire the artistry.

Fun at the fair: a book full of colours

Picture Us In The Light

I’mm going to take this prompt quite literally, as the main character is an artist, but even in the writing this book is very colourful.

Amusement park adventure: A book that was a rollercoaster

A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder

I had to sit unmoving for a good hour after finishing this book (because I was terrified, sad, in awe, and happy all at once).

Picnic with Cherries: a book whose food description made you feel all *heart eyes*

With The Fire On High

With The Fire On High is the perfect answer to this prompt. This book left me starving and ready to cook some of Emoni’s recipes.

Trip to the museum: a book that taught you valuable stuff

These two books, The Hate U Give and Amina’s Voice are two books I think everyone should read. They taught me a lot of very important things.

I tag…

Sorry if you’ve already been tagged/already done this tag!

Meet The Blogger Book Tag

Thanks so much to The Bibliomavens (Samantha and Amber) for tagging me! I really, really love their blog so please check it out.

Rules

  • Nominated bloggers can nominate ten other bloggers.
  • Use the same questions from the tag.
  • Tag the original creator (Bibliomavens) and the blogger who tagged you

1: Who is your all-time favourite book character?

Way to start off with a question I can’t answer! As a hugely indecisive person, here’s my list 😂: Brianna from On The Come Up, Jesper from Six Of Crows, Charlotte from A Study In Charlotte, and Prince Henry from Red White And Royal Blue. Whew that was a lot.

2. If you were stranded on a desert island, which book would you take with you? (Survival books do not count)

Ooh good question! I would probably be smart about this, taking a book that’s not a survival book but has survival “tips” in it (does this count?). My Side Of The Mountain it is.

3. What’s your most unpopular book opinion?

This is going to sound weird, but I think it’s that I don’t really have one. I don’t mind friends to lovers or enemies to lovers as long as it’s written well. As long as an author isn’t problematic I’ll give any book a try. Although love triangles aren’t really my thing, but I’ll still read it. 🤷🏼‍♀️

4. What’s your weirdest bookish habit?

Aah I totally agree with what Samantha said in her answer. I often flip to the end of a book and read the last sentence (and usually end up spoiling the entire book for myself by *accidentally* seeing things I shouldn’t).

5. What character would you bring to a family event as your fake partner?

Aha this is a fantastic question! I am not actually out to my extended family yet, so I would probably bring a extra fake partner (in which I would 100% bring Mateo Torrez from They Both Die At The End). If I was out to my extended family I would probably bring Nishat from The Henna Wars or Alina from Shadow and Bone (I wasn’t huge on her in the books but Jessie Mei Li is so pretty and did an amazing job).

6. What made you decide to start a book blog?

Hmm, well, I started a blog (which has now been deleted) with a couple of friends and I kind of fell in love with blogging. I’ve always been obsessed with books and when I started to explore the blogosphere and found gorgeous book blogs, I knew I wanted to do that.

7. What about reading and books do you love the most?

So. Many. Things. I think the biggest one would be the part of me that can imagine myself in them. I’m still not over the fact that I probably won’t go to a faerie world, magic school, or discover an ancient mystery and solve it. So books are somewhat of a form of escapism I guess.

8. What is your field of study/desired profession/current profession?

I am still in school but I would absolutely adore to become a screenwriter. And if all goes well, hopefully write a book or two on the side. *not me having planned out my entire life*

9. What are some book recommendations that became your favourites/obsessions?

Ooh so many! I love getting recommendations from friends and other bloggers. I’m going to go with The Black Kids (so amazing), Red White And Royal Blue (you may have noticed I won’t shut up about it) and Yesterday Is History (look it up!).

10. What is the book you shove down everyone’s throat?

See above, all of those books I shove down peoples throats (bur also wouldn’t put a dent in because they are amazing).

I tag…

That’s all for today folks! I need a nap 😂. If I haven’t gotten to your tag it will come in part two (and three, four, five, etc.).

  1. Thanks for doing the tag, I loved reading your answers!!! Haha jesper is one of my favourite characters too, he’s the definition of chaotic bisexual and I loved it. As for *accidentally* seeing things you shouldn’t and spoiling yourself – don’t worry, I do that too lol. I haven’t read the henna wars or Hani and ishu’s guide to fake dating yet, I must do that soon😊

    1. Thank you so much, and thanks again for the tag! I loved doing it. Jesper is amazing, and definitely the definition of a chaotic bisexual. Aaah I’m glad I’m not the only one who does that, I was getting a little worried about myself 😂. I hope you get to pick up some of Adiba Jaigirdar’s work, I really enjoy them ❤️

  2. Thanks so much for the tag! It looks like fun ❤ I can't wait to do it.

I love the book choices that you picked. There's a few on there that I still need to read. I'm the same way about Phillip Pullman's trilogy. I didn't finish the trilogy tbh but I wanted to try to reread the first novel so I can finally finish it, and for some reason I just could not get myself to finish The Golden Compass? I honestly don't know why!

    1. Of course!! Your blog was actually one that really inspired me to start a book blog ❤️. Can’t wait to read your answers! (no pressure though, it took me like three months to do this lol)

    1. No problem, I’ve always been super inspired by your blog!! Can’t wait to read your answers. Lol I totally agree with the “acting surprised that I’ve ruined for myself” I do that all the time 😂, and I hope you get to pick up Yesterday Is History.

  3. Thank you for doing the tag, Maeve!! I loved reading all your answers. I am also absolutely in love with Prince Henry and Jesper. Jesper is just *chef’s kiss*. And I’m glad Samantha is not alone in reading the last line first! – Amber
